Established in the year 1924, the Shree Gurudev Datta Mandir in Vakola is a source of great solace for the devotees of Lord Dattatreya. As soon as one enters the shrine, one loses track of time and of the external world. At the entrance to the temple is an Ashwattha tree and the padukas of Shree Datta. The calm and pure murti of Lord Dattatreya, flanked by Lord Ganesh on the right and Lord Hanuman on the left, makes one feel at absolute peace with oneself. To find out more about the history of the temple please visit the History page.

Bhajans, in the praise of Shree Datta, are sung here to the accompaniment of taals, 365 days a year with no exception. This nitya kram starts promptly at 7.30 PM everyday and goes on till 8 PM after which the aartis of Shree Ganesh, Shree Datta and Shree Hanuman are performed followed by the tirtha-prasad. On Thursdays, the bhajan karyakram starts at 8 PM and gets over by 9 PM, after which the aarti is performed. For more information about the nitya karyakram please visit the Daily Kriya page.

Most of the important festivals such as Guru Pournima and Datta Jayanti are celebrated in the temple on a grand scale. Spiritual and devotional programmes such as dhvani mudran of the Shreemad Bhagvad Gita are also organized periodically. For more information about the annual activities organized in the temple please visit the Annual Calendar page.

***********Annadan Seva***********

Annadan is very important in Kaliyug. This has been clearly mentioned in Shreepad Shreevallabh Charitramrut, Shree GuruCharitra, Shree Swami Charitra and other granthas. The punya accruing from annadan cannot be fathomed. Keeping this in mind, we have started Annadan Seva on Thursdays only. Devotees can make a contribution of Rs. 501/- towards this seva, following which the Mandir will make necessary arrangements for khichdi prasad to be distributed to all the devotees attending the nitya karyakram on Thursdays. Devotees who wish to perform this seva may please contact us.

***********Palkhi Seva***********

With the blessings of Lord Datta, we have taken a sankalpa to perform the Palkhi procession on every Pournima. After the nitya bhajan, thePalkhi of Lord Datta will circumambulate the temple three times to the accompaniment of various padas and ashtakas. Devotees who are desirous of doing Palkhi Seva can do so by contributing Rs. 1002 (which also includes distribution of Kichdi Prasadam to all devotees).
